    When Honda was introduced this half-naked-half-fairing bike in , there was not a lot of murmurs in the biking circuits. The reason was simple. This cc sports tourer had biffer looks, not associated generally with sports motorcycles. But then Honda let out that this bike used the detuned Fireblade engine of the CBRRR, which was the undisputed king of racetracks then.

    Understandably, the interest piqued a little. The early birds were in for a pleasant surprise. They had not expected such a smooth yet powerful cc bike with such bland looks. Although detuned, the engine still had enough juice to take you for a hooning on a track day and earn the respect of the bigger boys. In addition, relatively inexperienced riders graduating to the liter bike class could hold themselves steady and still enjoy the zip.

    The and later models give more kick to the riders and are one of the most saleable bikes on the circuit. The to models used a valve, liquid cooled, transverse 4-stroke engine with six-speed transmission. Since it was detuned Fireblade, so as expected, the power and torque were much less.

    Importantly, the torque and power played out well in the lower-to-mid-range where most riders need them. The onwards models have been re-tuned a bit to give you a max power of bhp at rpm and 69 lb-ft at rpm. The new bikes use a race-proven valve 4-stroke inline, DOHC liquid cooled engine. Although it may not be as lightning quick as the Kawasaki Z SX or the Yamaha YZF-R1 or the low down throttle power of the Suzuki GSXFA, it is still fast enough to take you on your daily chores within the city or go full 2-up on a highway and make you reach your destination on time!

    This bike has a big fuel tank of 19 liters and a tank range of miles. The bike has a silky smooth suspension.

    The front uses a 41 mm telescopic fork and preload-adjusted springs and the rear has a gas charged Honda Multi Action System spring adjusted for preload and rebound. These suspensions can absorb the impact completely even under the most outrageous conditions. The brakes feel effortless, even at hair-pin bends and never put pressure on your hands. The CBF may look like a macho liter-bike but it feels more comfortable in purring than growling.

    Some say, it feels a little heavy at low speeds or at standstill while most riders never complain of the weight due to the low seat height which is just mm which is the standard. So you can reach out for the ground very easily. The ground clearance is good. It feels a little less sporty on racetracks but is perfect on carrying out fast errands.

    The seats have been ergonomically designed to give you a comfortable upright position and the handle bars sit at a comfortable distance. The throttle is extremely cooperative. The engine can adapt to your skill level. Even with panniers and a pillion rider, the bike feels supple around turns.

    Honda has focused more on stability than poke on this bike. The model was more aerodynamic in comparison to the model. The bike has been built around a strong Mono-backbone aluminum frame which squeezes the engine as a stressed member in a diamond configuration, providing strength and rigidity for better controls.
